My Math Journey:
🇮🇳 Kolkata 🇮🇳 → 🇮🇳 Tezpur 🇮🇳 → 🇺🇸 New Orleans 🇺🇸
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics at Tulane University, working with Prof. Tài Huy Hà. My path runs through Dinabandhu Andrews College (University of Calcutta) and Tezpur University, and it is shaped by a long-standing fascination with algebra, geometry, and teaching.
Background
I grew up in West Bengal, India, and completed my B.Sc. in Mathematics at Dinabandhu Andrews College (University of Calcutta). I then moved to Tezpur University for my M.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences, where I developed a serious interest in algebra, number theory, and geometry.
Since Fall 2021, I have been a doctoral student at Tulane University. My research lives at the intersection of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry, focusing on interpolation problems, symbolic powers of ideals, and asymptotic invariants attached to configurations of points in projective spaces, polyhedral descriptions, valuative description, and etc.

Beyond math
Beyond research and teaching, I enjoy having informal conversations about mathematics with students from different backgrounds, especially those who are just beginning to explore the subject. I find that relaxed, curiosity-driven discussions often help make higher mathematics feel less intimidating and more accessible.
I also enjoy mentoring early-career students and supporting them as they build confidence, mathematical maturity, and a sense of direction. Outside the classroom, I love organizing activities, events, and collaborative spaces that bring people together and enrich the academic community. I am particularly drawn to community-building and outreach efforts that emphasize shared learning, inclusivity, and the human side of mathematics.
